Why Family Photography Is Important

These days it’s hard to find pictures that truly capture your family and children in a very real way. As a family photographer, I believe in creating memorable images that reflect the true emotions of the people being captured. Together we’ll create details about your children's lives that will be cherished for generations.

There are lots of reasons to schedule a portrait session with a family photographer, like me. Maybe you're about to welcome a new addition, or maybe you want to commemorate an upcoming milestone, or the grandparents are in town and you haven't seen them in a long time. Maybe your first child has lost their front baby teeth (this is a moment that is short lived and very cute). The more popular reasons to hire a family photographer are for a great holiday card photo, or for your Childs first birthday. Since I am a family photographer, I love to document all of the memorable moments kids and families go through, it doesn't have to be a special occasion.

During family sessions, I try to put my clients at ease and keep our time together light and simple. It also helps if you, my client, can set the tone for your family,  like "this is going to be a fun adventure, we are going to have a blast!". This mindset will help the everyone relax and be expressive, which will produce great photos that you will love. For parents I always suggest to keep a smile on, the entire time, and to always "look" like you're having fun. I want natural expressions, yes, but it's best to try and avoid angry ones, and looking like you're bored. Of course you will be having fun, but you will like your photos a lot more if you try this little trick. =)

Whatever your reason for wanting special family portraits, I'm here to help. If you would like to have me follow you and your family around for an hour with my camera, in a pretty grassy field, so you can have some really cool, fun and artistic images of you and your favorite people, please reach out! I would love to work with you!

How To Prepare For Your Family Photo Session

Amelia Plumb does her best to prepare her clients before their session. A good amount of time is taken to discuss the session and the kinds of images that are wanted and what the goal of the photo session will be, for example, will the images be used for creating a family wall gallery, will they be in an album that will reside on the coffee table? Also, if help is needed to create a specific look or color scheme Amelia has what to wear guides and a location look book to help plan. Amelia also partners with a wonderful hair and makeup artist who can help the ladies feel prepared and looking their best.

If you are interested in booking a session, the next step would be to schedule a discover call with Amelia. If you would like to learn let’s connect!
