Unleash Your Photographer Brand: The Impact of Professional Headshots | Mill Valley, Ca

Photographers need headshots and lifestyle photos too! Last week I met with my favorite photographer, Sarah, with Portraits For The People. I have hired her several times and I have always loved the photos. That’s a big deal. I’m very choosy with who takes MY photos, you need to trust your photographer! I do trust mine. Going through the process of having my photos taken gives me perspective on the struggle my clients are likely facing when they book a business photo session or headshot and lifestyle photo session. There is a lot to consider. Below I have shared some of my favorite images from my session with Sarah last week…

The purpose for this shoot was that I wanted different images for my business, event and family website. I also wanted some fun ones for the film photography business that I am trying to get off the ground. I will be selling prints on this website, in the “shop” section. As for what to wear….I pulled a few things from my closet together, and did a tiny, tiny bt of shopping. Yay!

This session also made me realize how important it is to have professional hair for the ladies. A blow out would have worked just fine. But on the day of my shoot it was foggy in San Francisco, which caused my hair to frizz and I lost my curl quickly. If I had had it professionally done it would have stayed much longer! So ladies, pamper yourself before your photos session and have your hair and makeup done! It makes a huge difference in your photos, it makes you feel great, it helps your photographer with edits, and it gives you a reason to go out after and enjoy, because you will look especially beautiful.

Clothing and location matter a lot too. I work with a stylist who has helped a lot of my clients pull some awesome outfits together for their photo session. Location is really really important. What do you want the vibe of your photos to be? Do you want a dark background, a light and airy backdrop, or something more colorful. I was going for both. My two business are very different and I wanted a different look for both. We met in a cute neighborhood of Ocean Beach in SF, for this photo session.
